Maybach - CC 1 | One of the original Maybach 62s models, it is enourmous!
I am a leading expert in Hong Kong on the Car Vanity Plate Culture also known as Personalised Car Licence Plate Culture which garners worldwide attention particularly at Chinese New Year in Hong Kong and I have also taken over 103,000 + images of cars in Hong Kong, it is a thing!
Hong Konger’s love their cars and luxury cars in particular are highly prized and shown off, as well they should.
The Maybach brand is split into 2 segments
The original Maybach 57 + 62 Old Models prior to 2013 of which there are 41 in Hong Kong, only 3,321 of these original models were produced and sold worldwide from 2002 - 2013, the 62 was simply the long wheelbase version of the 57
The Mercedes Maybach sold after 2013, the numbers are much greater than the original models, probably well over a 1,000 in Hong Kong but the Transport Department classifies them as Mercedes Benz cars of which we have 69,500+ which is a staggering number by the way and second only to Toyota
I rather like Maybach Cars, a brand that will always be linked with the Ultra Luxury Car Segment, who doesn’t! and I have to say if you are a fan you will NOT be disappointed in Hong Kong, Mercedes Benz | Maybach dominate the luxury car segment but it is nice to see all the major European brands in Hong Kong and big numbers as well, there are approximately 41 Original Maybachs in Hong Kong which is a huge figure for a small city (and given that not many were made) and yes, ANY colour seems to be the most popular colour! (2 tone is popular) There are some very creative colour schemes out there (a bit like Bentley really!)
I always get very excited when I see an Original Maybach, like Bentley’s they are very distinctive with a lovely and very understated engine noise and always that quite aggressive and HUGE profile that sets them apart from the more traditional LUXURY brands in Hong Kong…. Rolls Royce and Bentley where always the main competition and in snobby Hong Kong, Rolls Royce is the king of the Luxury car market.
The images are in no particular order - who doesn’t worship Maybach and I am very fond of the original model which was very distinctive not to mention the size of a bus! Of the 41 original Maybachs registered in Hong Kong I have actually photographed 39 of them!
